Office Hours

I hold virtual office hours roughly every Thursday evening (US) / Friday morning (Korea), mainly for students thinking about their careers and looking for advice on academic life. I'm happy to chat about other things too, though I may not have as much experience to offer there (I know, boring, right?). The exact time may shift slightly from month to month, so please check the sign-up page for the available slots.

Slots are kept to 15 minutes to make sure there's enough time for each individual chat, but we can use the hour flexibly, especially if the hour isn't fully booked. Feel free to chat for a shorter or longer time depending on your needs.

매주 목요일 저녁 (미국 기준) / 금요일 오전 (한국 기준)에 온라인 오피스아워를 운영하고 있습니다. 주로 진로 고민이나 학업, 연구 생활에 대한 조언이 필요한 분들을 위한 시간이지만, 다른 주제도 편하게 이야기 나눌 수 있습니다. 시간은 매달 조금씩 바뀔 수 있으니, 신청 페이지에서 정확한 시간을 확인해주세요.

한 분 한 분과 충분히 이야기 나눌 시간을 확보하기 위해 예약은 15분 단위로 되어 있지만, 실제로는 1시간을 유동적으로 활용할 예정입니다. 필요에 따라 더 짧게 혹은 더 길게 이야기 나눠도 괜찮습니다.

Postdocs

Apply through the UChicago Data Science Institute Postdoctoral Scholars program. Before the application deadline, you can send me an email with your CV and research statement to schedule an informal chat and to receive a letter of collaboration. In your application, select my name as a potential mentor and attach the letter of collaboration.

PhD Students

This year (2026-2027), I am not recruiting PhD students to join my group. Please check back next year for updates on PhD student recruitment.

Research Interns (UChicago Students)

If you are broadly looking for research experiences, I encourage you to attend seminars, talks, and reading groups (e.g., UChicago CS colloquium, UChicago/TTIC Communication & Intelligence seminar, and UChicago People and Tech seminar), gain hands-on experience by working on exciting class projects, and strike up conversations with PhD students, postdocs, and professors whose research interests match yours.
