Mina Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Data Science Institute at the University of Chicago. Her research examines the evolving relationship between people and AI, with a particular focus on writing, reading, and thinking with AI. She designs and evaluates AI systems, identifies opportunities and risks of AI-assisted writing, reading, and thinking, and measures AI's impact through user studies, controlled experiments, and surveys. Her work appears in both generalist journals (e.g., Nature Human Behavior) and top-tier conferences in HCI (e.g., CHI), NLP (e.g., ACL and NAACL), and machine learning (e.g., NeurIPS). In 2022, Mina was named one of MIT Technology Review's Korean Innovators under 35. Her work on human-AI collaborative writing received an Honorable Mention Award at CHI 2022 and was featured in various media outlets, including The Economist. She has co-founded and organized multiple workshops, including Intelligent and Interactive Writing Assistants (In2Writing), Human-centered Evaluation and Auditing of Language Models (HEAL), and Tools for Thought (TfT) at ACL and CHI. Outside academia, she writes for broader audiences: She authored How to Apply to Graduate Schools in the US (2017), and contributed chapters to The AI Asks, the Future Answers (2025) and AI Insiders — Future Reports from Global Top-Tier Experts (2025).

이민아 교수는 인간-컴퓨터 상호작용(HCI)과 자연어처리(NLP), 사회과학(CSS)을 접목한 융합 연구를 수행하고 있으며, 특히 AI가 인간의 글쓰기, 읽기, 사고 과정에 미치는 영향을 설계, 실험, 평가하는 연구를 주도하고 있다. CHI, ACL, NeurIPS 등 HCI 및 NLP 분야 최상위 국제학회에 논문을 게재하였으며, Nature Human Behaviour, Computers & Education 등 타 분야 국제학술지에도 공동연구를 통해 논문을 게재하는 등 학제간 협력 연구를 활발히 수행하고 있다. 대표 연구인 CoAuthor(CHI 2022, Honorable Mention)는 1,445건의 인간-AI 글쓰기 세션을 수준에서 분석한 대규모 데이터셋으로 해당 분야에서 광범위하게 활용되고 있다. 또한 115편의 논문을 체계적으로 분석한 AI 글쓰기 도구 디자인 프레임워크(CHI 2024)를 제시하였으며, CHI 2026에서는 AI 글쓰기가 채용 평가의 성별 편향을 감소시킬 수 있음을 밝힌 심리학과 접목한 연구로 Best Paper Award를 수상하였다. 최근에는 AI 사용이 비판적 사고, 기억, 읽기 이해에 미치는 인지적 영향을 대규모 무작위 통제 실험을 통해 규명하는 연구를 활발히 수행하고 있다. Stanford University에서 박사학위를 취득한 후 Microsoft Research 박사후 연구원을 거쳐, 현재 University of Chicago 컴퓨터과학과 조교수로 재직 중이며, MIT Technology Review 한국 35세 이하 혁신가(2022) 및 KOCSEA 올해의 신진교수상(2025)을 수상하였다.
